Practicing for our baby

So yesterday, I get a text message from my friend Lindsey wanting to know if I would mind watching her son for an hour or so. I said sure, no problem. I have spent time with Larz almost every weekend since he was born and I thought this would be a breeze. The moment that they dropped him off and left, I realized that I have never been left all by myself with a 14 month old baby. My first words to him were "Well, Larz, I have no idea what we are going to do, but I am sure we will figure something out." Luckily, he is the sweetest little guy, so it wasn't too difficult. The most amusing part was watching him follow our cat, Sammy around for the majority of the time. He would run after Sammy with his short (but amazingly quick) little legs and laugh the whole time. He just cracked me up. Sammy was definitely not amused, but fortunately for her, she is a whole lot faster than Larz and was never in any danger of being caught. At one point, he and I managed to corner her and I held her while Larz checked her out. Sammy was as good of a sport as you can expect from a grouchy kitty. She meowed at him constantly, but let him poke and prod at her until she finally wiggled her way out of my grasp and shot out of the room. I am sure she will not be pleased to have a baby living in her home full-time in just a few short months, but I figure she will just have to get used to it. At least the baby won't try to make a snack out of her the way the dogs do.

thanks so much for watching him! I hope he didn't make you work too much. He tends to over work people with those little legs of his. :)
